This is the first in a series of videos I will be posting on YouTube. It takes the steps described in my popular homemade yogurt website, and demonstrates them in video format. Check out part 1 of 3:

  1. Hi, I'm going to be your first comment! Just found your recipe and watched the 3 videos and I want to say thank you for the most thorough explanations of all.

I had forgotten exactly how much yogurt to use for inoculating, and there it was.

I can't use my heating pad because it has an automatic shut-off (as did the one before) but I have an old coffee warmer plate which can be set to just the right temperature. I've been using it for making yogurt since the '70's!

  2. What about adding powdered milk? I've seen lots of sites that recommend that.

  3. Sorry I did not check back sooner. To 'the-cooks-corner-blog", that is so cool that you have been doing this since the seventies. I don't think a coffee warmer plate bought today will still be working in 2040. Keep rockin!

SCB, some folks like the powdered milk because it adds thickness. I like it just fine without it, but if you use it, make sure to really whick it in when the milk is super hot. Otherwise you get clumps.
